All accommodation is furnished in a timeless style and equipped similarly, but all have different names and personalities, which are personal to Nick Buckingham as they relate to his coming to understand Sri Lanka and its people. By all means ask him what inspired him, and about his challenges during the construction period, it’s quite a story.
First up is ‘The Tree House’ which was built around an existing coconut tree and meant to be Nicks own. Early site visitors persuaded him to complete it for guests and ever since, it has been the most sought after and talked about suite.
Differentials between bedrooms and suites are fairly opaque to be honest, discreet at best. Levels of equipment and comfort are identical, so it’s really about some extra space, or a slightly more special view or personality perhaps that sets them apart. Two extra-large (first floor) superior view suites share panoramic views over the mangrove canopy surrounding Rekawa Lagoon, as well as the lagoon itself.
Each first floor suite enjoys views from the bedroom, a private side balcony and the link balcony to the front of both. Each comes with a large airy rain-shower bathroom (no bathtub). *These first floor suites are for couples and solo travelers only.
On the ground floor, two more huge suites share lower views of those upstairs, and boast a vast bathtub bathroom with an open pergola rain-shower.
These suites also feature a very small, air-conditioned box room (entrance in main bedroom / no view) into which we can install a bunk bed for 2 accompanying (small) children (min 5yrs) or another adult guest at a squeeze (prior booking essential). Satellite TV is installed in all four suites.
